Begin Your Adventure: After a long days travel, leaves catching in your clothes, the dust of the road shading your boots, you find respite waiting ahead. You’ve arrived at the town of Greymir, a river port on the banks of the Rauvin. You see a small yet bustling trade-route town before you. Clean cobble and paving stone streets are lined with rustic, well kept buildings, each different than the next, giving the town a charming air. Ahead, you see a central town square, and wide branching avenues. Brightly colored stalls selling produce, gear and other various goods populate the open area. At the center is a tall fountain of carved stone figures holding vases and jugs, pouring water into basins below. The sound of bubbling water accompanies the chatter of locals as they barter & mingle. The smell of spice and perfume linger in the air. Most prominent on the square, is a well appointed, four story Tavern. The merry notes of music, and clinking glasses can be heard from inside, along with the laughter of its patrons. Hanging from wrought iron above the door, is a brightly painted wooden sign. The words "The Rolling Dragon" are printed in gold on a red background. A muscular man with piercing grey-green eyes, and a split silver beard, can be seen at the doorway, stopping people as they enter with a greeting or a short pause before waving them in. He wears a studded black coat, an ornate hat with a brim that curls up on each side, and for all his intimidating aura, has a lute tucked over his shoulder. As you approach he stops you with a keen but friendly gaze. "You new here?" he rumbles. You nod in agreement. He huffs out a chuckle and pulls a scroll from a sack on his belt. "Here, read this. Just housekeeping rules and all, that everyone stayin at the Dragon agrees to and abides by. Cause a problem in there or break the rules and you'll be answering to Lady Grey."
THE GUILD HALL
Tavern-HallUpon entering, you’re greeted by a welcoming nod from the inn’s proprietor, Arvensis, and the scent of hearty food and good ale. A polished, dark wood bar dominates the far wall, a row of tapped barrels behind it, and a few shelves filled with wines, stronger drink, and various exotic looking elixirs. Above a large river stone hearth hangs an impressive moose head and other eclectic trophies from travelers and traders. Well worn trestle tables, occupy choice spots in the room and leather arm chairs provide a comfortable seat by the fire. An open archway leads to the kitchens, a sturdy door to the cellar, and a gleaming mahogany stairway leads to the upper floors. You also see an orange eyed forest cat, a hallway to the Guild Office, and a hand written chalk menu

Tavern Stage
A low, polished wood performing stage frames the back wall of the tavern. Deep peacock velvet curtains adorn each side.
Small everglow lanterns are set at intervals across it's rounded front edge, and it's modest proscenium is carved with bardic instruments and cavorting woodland animals. Set on pegs in the wall, you see a shawm, a few bodhrans, a set of small pipes, and a lute, for guests to play.
The Office
Dark cherry wood wainscoting and a large captain’s desk define the well appointed off of Lady Grey, leader of the Guild and partner of Arvensis. The ornately carved desk holds quills, a glass ink well, a brass Guild seal, and is strewn with papers, scrolls, inventory lists, contracts and maps.An amber-glass mullioned window looks out over the town square, yet obscures outside eyes from peering in. One wall holds a large bulletin board, pegged with notes, and available Guild contracts, waiting to be accepted and signed by willing adventurers. The scent of pipe tobacco, sealing wax, and spiced perfume linger in the air.
Notice Board
A wide, weathered cork notice board bears a large printed sign the reads : Available Contracts For Willing Adventurers and Guild Members:
Missing Persons, Stolen Goods, Waylaid Trade Goods, Unlawful Arcana, and Creatures Threatening the Trade Roads. The board is pinned with the most recent contracts as well as a few thank you notes, letters of passage for different cities and a small, poorly written note in the hand of a child that says: “Mising. wun kiten. Namd Mittenz.”
Training Hall
Double doors open onto arched beam ceilings and walls lined with all manner of weapons, armor, shields and sparring gear. It may not be the height of paladin fashion, but you’ll find good, honest workmanship for adventurers to train their skills. Benches and cushioned short barrels make up a seating area and healing station. A VERY prominent sign reads: Train At Your Own Risk - For Here There Be Dragons. ~ Arvensis
The Kitchen
The scent of fresh herbs, butter, roasting meats and sweet baking things fill the air in this bustling but tidy kitchen, run by the beautiful Dwarven cook, Rowena. A few stray red curls escape the braid atop her head as she chops, mixes, checks and tastes in a practiced and effortless air of efficiency. Her grace, quickness and strength may hint that she’s more than just a cook. A long wooden, marble topped table sits in the center of the room, organized with an array of tasty ingredients, ready to be put to good use in the many dishes in bubbling pots on a cook top or in one of several ovens on the far wall. Two large windows open over a small garden and let in any available breeze to help cool this bright room. You also see a pie cooling on the window sill, a baking rack holding fresh bread and honey cakes, and Quinn, a young Half-Elf kitchen and bar maid.
The Cellar
Casks and barrels of wine, mead and beer perfume the cooler air of this arched stone and wood beam room. Boxes of fresh produce, packed with hay for safe keeping, pots, candles and dry goods, have been set neatly on storage crates, ready to be used in the kitchen above.
Next to the wine stores, a round table, set with an incongruent silver candelabra and faded linen, serve as a private tasting room, or a place for clandestine meetings.Upon closer inspection, you notice the stone arches, crossing the ceiling, may actually be enormous crests of bone. What manner of beast was large enough to create such a space?
THE TOWN OF GREYMIR
Town Green
A broad swath of green grass and small, well appointed gardens dot the expanse of the town green.
A small pond sits to one side, shaded in part by a dainty willow tree at it’s bank. The bustle of the town seems distant in this quiet spot.
You also see, a storybook topiary garden, a dainty rose rose garden, a miniature hedge-maze, and a robust herb garden.
Market Square
Open shop fronts with brightly painted signs displaying various wares, instruments, arcana and sundries, surround a central town green, arrayed with several push-cart stalls, selling all manner of produce, festive food and drinks.
Trimmed grass, lines even flagstones and song birds chatter intermittently among the call of sellers plying their wares and the good natured banter of shoppers strolling by.
An orange tabby cat sits on a fish barrel, meticulously cleaning her paws.
You see an awning draped cart selling sweets, a festive cart selling savory bites, and a rounded, barrel wood cart selling coffee, tea and stronger drinks.
Broad avenues branch away from the square. You also see a lane of merchant's homes and a small bake shop, a carriage road containing a black smith's shop, a chandler, and a timber wood stable
General Store
In this well lit shop, you notice the shelves are lined with various goods, from armour, weapons, tool kits, rations, materials, spell books, scrolls, to several arcane items you didn't think existed. The shop keep, Fazir, is wandering between the shelves and counter, stocking goods and inspecting old items when he turns and notices your presence. He waves cheerily, approaching you, a few items falling from his clutches onto the floor, unnoticed.
"Hello, there! How can I help you? We’ve got just about anything in here, just ask and you might receive.”
Bella’s Bakery
Bright mullioned windows fill this tidy shop with any available light, and show off bakery cases filled with all manner of bread loaves, baguettes, pastries and sweet treats, lovingly hand made by the town’s resident baker, Bella. An open doorway leads to baking tables, pantry and wood fire ovens. Above a wainscot chair rail, the walls are shelves holding more baked goods and a light marble topped cooling table. A smooth walnut counter holds several glass covered cake plates stacked with a daily assortment of tiny cakes and tarts, brownies, cookies, or angel food cake, and a daily menu.
Haberdasher
A tiny brass bell jingles upon entry to this jaunty, shop. Gleaming glass and polished walnut cabinetry, their doors ajar, display a wide array of hats, men’s wear and finishing touches, from humble to high tone. A glass case contains an odd assortment of gently used items, jars of teas, and tobaccos. The shop’s proprietor, Taelbert, is always ready to assist customers with a sharp eyed smile and a negotiated price. He stands beside the counter, in front of a curtained back room, polishing a monocle. You get the feeling there might be more for sale here to the right buyer.(you might get a better price depending on your charisma or persuasion)

A large painted sign above wide barn doors reads: Dimmerval StablesSturdy wood beams of mountain spruce and polished brass fittings give an air of quality to this lofty two story building. Large hooks supporting tack in various stages of construction and repair line the walls of this airy room.Muffled by a thick bed of straw, the sound of stomping hooves echoes from several of the roomy box stalls extending along both sides of the spacious interior. The earthy note of horse mingles with the scents of saddle soap, warm leather, hay and feed to create the distinctive atmosphere that’s common to all well run stables. Soothing reassurances follow in the wake of a young stable hand attempting to escort a high-strung stallion to the stable yard.Occasional breezes filter through the open window overlooking the paddock outside. Tucked behind an open Livery Office door, several shelves hold a tidy array of grooming tools. You also see Sjean and Jjon, the Dimmerval brothers, and stable hands.
The Temple
The All Faiths Temple is one of the few stone structures in town sitting at the far end of the market road, framed by the Nether Mountains behind it. Slender Fluted staves rise up to support it’s gabled roofs and a bell tower while Ornately carved timber-wood doors remain ever open, to welcome worshipers or those seeking sanctuary and solace. Intricate craftsmanship blends images of greenery and nature with various symbols of deities making the entrance a masterful work of art. Small stylized dragon carvings stand sentinel atop each of the many eaves.
As you step through the threshold, the interior is an open central courtyard of softly burbling fountains, low seating and reflecting pools. Surrounding the pools, you see an artfully designed framework of garden rows, lush with floral topiaries, fruit trees, herbs & vegetables. The outer walls open onto carved alcoves containing effigies of many gods of the pantheons, for worshipers to give offerings or pray within. Grey curls of incense smoke rise lazily from braziers around the room, adding to a sense of peace and comfort. You also see: an alms-box, a door to the rectory, a stairway that leads to the bell tower, and an arched doorway leading to the healing ward and Grey Chapel. Also here: The Temple Mother, and Thad, the Green Brother.
A graceful, elven woman of some years, approaches in pure white robes and a wooden cane. A pale sparkle emanates from her eyes and she moves with purpose towards you. Though it’s unmistakable that she’s a Mother of faith, there are no distinct signs which god she worships.
She stops as she reaches you, "Welcome to the temple, young one. Here you can find worship for any deity you wish, save those who wish ill will. If you have come to worship one of them then I am afraid..” Her form seems to writhe with divine energy that threatens to singe your eyebrows “that I can not let you leave." The energy slowly dissipates and fades. She turns her head upwards and begins to chortle. "Just kidding!" There is a brief pause "Or am I?" She slowly turns and begins to walk away, her chuckling echoes off the stone walls. She calls over her shoulder, “We also have the skill to raise the fallen, over in the Grey Chapel, as well as handfast folks, that are willing”
the Vintner - barn
Arched grey ash beams cross the roof the of this tall, airy barn, it’s walls lined with all the trappings of cultivation and wine making. Wine and cider barrels are stacked in the darker recesses, perfuming the cool air with the tantalizing scent of the blends they hold. A wide flag stone floor keeps the temperature low and steady to ensure the best aging conditions of these prized vintages. As pride of place, a large plaque adorns one wall, bearing the elegant crest of Greymir, flanked by two grand wrought iron sconces. Stately wooden double doors lead off to the vintners tasting room.
The Orchard
Well organized rows of apple trees protect lines of lush, low growing grape vines that run just beyond a red dirt road outside of the town proper. The sweet scent of apple blossoms hangs in the air. A fat bumble bee floats lazily in the branches of an apple tree nearby and a faint breeze rustles the branches. A painted sign, resembling a wine label, points toward a slightly worn path, breaking the grass, leading to a cloistered gathering of tall, timber pines and the mountain foothills. The sign reads: Archer's Grove. You also see a red wheelbarrow, a trowel, and a wood handled box filled with gardening tools.
The River
Fisher birds turn and wheel above trade boats and stately privately owned river craft as they glide along the shining expanse of the River Rauvin. The docks, busy with bargemen and travelers, can be seen to the south and to the north, the river bends gently away around gently rising hills.
The clange of dock bells and the jovial calls of fishermen carry faintly across the water. Here, the taller grass has been cropped down to create a spot for townsfolk to leisurely watch the river, share an outdoor meal or take a dip.
River BendIridescent dragon flies flit lazily in the air, as rushes and long grass bend and dip, along this gentle curve of slow moving water. Willows, oaks and wild flowers dot the banks of this wide, gentle expanse of the Rauvin river. At the curve, a rocky outcropping juts out over the river underneath one ancient willow, its branches creating an airy, secluded alcove for bathers, picnickers and sweet hearts. A small garden bench has been placed here, and signs of foot passage wearing a groove in the grass, belie the possibility of a more somber reason gentlemen may meet here. You also see a small, tree root arching in the ground, that serves as the entrance to a rabbit warren.
Arcanists TowerPerched along the river bend, for both for the towns safety, and the protection of the Mages that wield so much power, this four-story tower looks modest on the outside.Built of hewn river-stone, with modest lancet windows, it’s appearance belies the esoteric wonders it holds within. Frost Hatsup, Greymir’s Arcanist likes it this way.The 1st floor landing is luxurious yet chic, to welcome those traveling by portal. Creme colored walls and gilt-edged shelving display prized keepsakes from far travels and adventures. The 2nd floor’s expansive walls are lined with books, tomes and grimoires, leaving the center of the room open, with softly glowing sigils, for travel to different destinations.A smaller, personal version of this occupies the 3rd floor, and Frost’s personal quarters, to study and experiment unbothered by the public.Rare wonders, relics, souvenirs and supplies mingle in a riot of colored light from stained glass arches that top the 4th floor. This is a museum of sorts, visitors by invitation only to study or divine meaning from items in this impressive collection.
The Graveyard
Greymir’s quiet graveyard, can be found up a shady, wooded path, north of the All-Faith temple. Time worn gravestones, statuary and mausoleums are carefully maintained in somber rows, under small trees, or on gently rolling hillocks, giving beauty to a final resting place. Its cobblestone walls are dappled with moss, and some are missing their finials, but the cast iron gate hangs straight, well oiled, and open to any who wish to visit loved ones. Carved in the stone arch above the gate are twin ravens between the All-Faith’s Crest, and active warding sigils glow softly, as protection against the undead. The ground here is blanketed in a thin, ethereal fog, hinting at, perhaps, a thinning in the veil between the planes here, and on calm, overcast days like this, the faint rift is eerily palpable. Several graves bear small mementos and flowers, placed gently by friends and loved ones. Doves coo softly in tall dark pines, beside a weathered pine Grave-Keepers cottage. A single lantern hangs from a post by the door.
An elegant stone mausoleum sits in the center of the graveyard, bearing carved reliefs of gallant deeds, a dragon in battle, and stone florals of a family crest, worked with more active warding sigils. The chirping of crickets and singing of birds can't be heard here, as if even the animals in the woods know to give this hallowed ground a wide berth. At night, a strange morose tune can be heard emanating from the fog, and even accomplished adventurers steer clear after dark, lest they upset more souls than they put to rest.
One section of the graveyard looks as though its received some attention in recently. Several new gravestones stick out towards the graveyard's entrance, a grim reminder of the dangers and the final price, faced by adventurers in
Visitors may enter the graveyard and pay their respects for the dead, but respect and reverence should be minded here, lest they draw the ire of the the grave keeper, or its spirits.
Most of the gravestones have been gently worn by time, but a small section of plots seem to have been freshly dug.

The Trade-Roads
The rich, sun baked, tan earth, telling the tale of well travelled miles, stretches away in four directions, surrounded by green fields, grass and intermittent pines to the gentle hills of the horizon. A well maintained sign post bears multiple arrows, painted with the names of the towns each direction leads. You also see a raven, perched atop the finial of the sign post, gazing off to the west.
